One Billion Rising Honolulu

Men, women, and children gathered in Chinatown last night in support of One Billion Rising

A crowd gathered in Chinatown Thursday night in support of One Billion Rising, a movement to raise awareness about ending violence against women. The journey began at Mark’s Garage, where supporters danced through the streets to the beat of Congolese drums. Their destination was Loading Zone arts, which hosted the continuing festivities and included a reading of the “Vagina Monologues” by University of Hawaii students, spoken word performances by local poets and a flash mob dance.
