Here’s a look at the events we’ve hit as part of this year’s Hawaii Food & Wine Festival.
Best of the Hawaii Food & Wine Festival
After a week of phenomenal food by 75 of the best chefs from around the world, it proved difficult to pick the best of the best dishes and moments.
Savory Ever After
Sunday’s finale of the Hawaii Food & Wine Festival at Ko Olina was a fitting end, with some of the country’s most celebrated chefs offering bites.
Taste Our Love for the Land
Eighteen world-renowned chefs, many of whom promote the “farm to table” concept in their restaurants, were featured at last night’s gala in the Hawaii Convention Center’s rooftop garden.
Hawaii Food & Wine: Pa’ina on the Pier
Featured chefs, local farmers, food purveyors and media got to mingle and taste some of the products that Hawaii has to offer, all in the area that is used for the daily fish auction.
Rice Plus, Fire it Up With Chiles, My Italian Way
Hawaii Food & Wine: After-party with DJ Hubert Keller
The chefs from the Hawaii Food and Wine Festival got to relax, mingle and get down to DJ/Chef Hubert Keller spinning electro house and dance beats at Japengo on Friday night.
Hawaii Food & Wine: Under the Modern Moon
Under the Modern Moon: Morimoto and Friends, Thursday night’s Oahu opening gala, was an upscale Asian street festival. A sell-out crowd of 850 grazed at 15 restaurant booths staffed by culinary glitterati like Anita Lo, Floyd Cardoz, Amber Lin, Charles Phan and Yuji Wakiya. Winemakers like Au Bon Climat’s Jim Clendenen and Greg Brewer of Diatom and Brewer-Clifton poured their labels, and mixologists made cocktails to order.
Although the events take place on Oahu this week, the festival itself kicked off with a special, open-air, open-kitchen dinner at the Hyatt Regency Maui over the weekend.
