Review: PDF Expert for iPad

Here’s a video review of the iPad app by Nonstop’s Doc Rock

By Shawn "Doc Rock" Boyd on April 20, 2011

The more I use my iPad, the more I find myself not needing to lug my beloved and now neglected MacBook Pro. Yet, the need to manipulate PDF documents has been one of many leashes keeping us tied to our notebooks. Now, Readdle has come to our rescue with the ultimate solution for PDFs on the iPad.

PDF Expert allows users to read, annotate, highlight, stamp, make notes and draw directly on PDF documents. PDF Expert even lets users fill out forms and sign PDF documents, then save these files in an Adobe Acrobat-compatible, and flattened PDF. That “never there when you need one” iPhone/iPad USB cable is no longer an issue. Syncing and copying files from a computer are a breeze with all the network connectivity and cloud integration of PDF Expert.

After spending about 10 minutes with PDF Expert, I was hooked. When you watch my review video, you’ll see PDF Expert has made itself right at home cozily in my iPads dock where my go-to apps live. I can’t wait to show it off at the next #HiPad meeting.

Pricing and Availability

PDF Expert for iPad 2.3.1 is available on the Apple App Store for $9.99.

Doc, thanks for this. I've been looking for something to cut up a .pdf file. Since joining Oceanit, my iPad has become my trust companion, I'd like to give her a name. But, she'll be replaced soon for a younger model. :)

This is great! If only all PDF users were as efficient as you... I still have customers who come in asking questions like, "I'm trying to insert pages from 1 PDF into another in the Acrobat Reader that I downloaded for free... Why isn't it working?" Readdle me this... is there hope?

Awesome review of PDF expert Doc! I'm imagining all the times I wished I could fill out a form in a typed format without busting out the old typewriter. I really like the signatures that you can create right on the application, and how easily you can manipulate them on the iPad. I also like the FTP, GoogleDocs, Dropbox & MobileMe support right out of the gates. Readdle me this!

I picked this up a while back because a friend recommended it to me. Doesn't it allow you to import signatures too? Or am I thinking PDFPen....
