The talented performers from the People’s Republic of China wowed Hawaii Theatre on opening night

The New Shanghai Circus from the People’s Republic of China opened a series of five awe-inspiring shows at Hawaii Theatre on Friday, with amazing feats, dazzling costumes and music and dance both traditional and modern. From contortionists to acrobats to plate spinners to traditional dragon dancers, the performers made the audience gasp and cheer.

If you’re hoping to catch the circus, there are three remaining shows, on Saturday, Jan. 14 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Jan. 15 at 2 and 7:30 p.m.
