The 2012 Hawaii International Film Festival (HIFF) kicked off Thursday evening with a gala reception held at the Halekulani.

Diana Xu, China’s contestant in the upcoming Miss Universe pageant, was one of the many guests who joined festival sponsors, staff and delegates to mingle and dine before heading off to the Regal Dole Cannery Theatres to watch the first night of films from around the world.

Here’s a look at the grand start to what’s sure to be another fabulous HIFF.
