New eats: Morning Glass

As coffee geeks will tell you, it can be tough to get a really good cup of coffee around town. On July 11, Morning Glass Cafe opened its doors in Manoa — amid a bit of buzz from chefs, foodies and coffee lovers — and already has a loyal following. We've been checking it out, too. Here's some intel from our visits there.

Finally got in to town early enough to try Morning Glass for breakfast, ordered the special sandwich. I wasn't sure how long the food would take so I told them I'd take it to go. I wish I could have stayed though as it really seemed like a nice "civilized" place to start the morning. ;) They were just getting things ready when I came in, boy everything looks so fresh and as good as Melissa808 's photos make them out to be.

Anyway, to the sandwich. It's slightly bigger than a McDonald's breakfast sandwich but about 100x better. I would have like to tried the sausage but they had bacon instead which of course is always fine by me. Like Melissa said it's a great combo of flavors and I highly recommend it. I did not get coffee this time (I drank some before I left home) but I think a sandwich like this deserves a cup of their coffee to complement it. I can't wait to try more of their stuff...maybe the grilled cheese, or the quiche, or...

Melissa — this was an awesome review! Looks really good. In our quest for finding great coffee and treats for the higreenhouse, we've been keeping an eye on morningglassc since announced as the coffee being served at rndhi. Looking forward to trying it!

I live in Manoa and I pass by it every day, whether by car or shoes, but I didn't even notice they were open. It looks like I'll be stopping by this week.

I tried this place this morning and enjoyed a currant scone and coffee. Very civilized and I like the open-air feel.

DianeSeo I never went to Ducky's so I don't know how different it was...? But I do know I never went in because it looked like a garage. This is so nice and open!

Paid this place a visit a couple weeks ago and wish I lived in Manoa again. Great food, excellent coffee, wonderful laid back, relaxed ambiance. Great place to start the day.

nathankam did you love my text yesterday when I needed to know how to eat the breakfast sandwich neatly? LOL!

paid a 1st visit yestdy after hearing ur commentary abt the sandwiches and was not disappointed -- except for the fact that porchetta sandwich wasn't on the menu yestdy. loved the gruyere-prosciutto sand, potato salad, pickles, coffee cake, perfect black iced coffee and open-air vibe.

Melissa808 204 pts moderator

nonstopmari wow, just realized you ate all that in one sitting!

nonstopmari 189 pts moderator

Melissa808 nah, i ate half. was too full, half sand and half cake came home w/ me.

Not a coffee connoisseur by any stretch but those sandwiches look good! I should try this place for breakfast before UH starts and the traffic madness begins.

808marv I know, right? I waited til about 830 to venture over for breakfast yesterday.
