New eats: Dash Gastropub

When a gastropub opens in McCully, one question rises above the rest: How good is it? Nonstop’s latest open-invite review

Dash Gastropub (19 of 19)

Dash Gastropub

I'm judging Dash solely by its food, and on this basis it's very good. The dishes I still think about are the burger, fries, fried rice and mochi, which is an eclectic statement. Nothing hits you over the head with shoyu, garlic, spice or sugar, which is common in both local bars and Japanese izakaya. There's restraint, and balance, and fun touches like takuan confetti and honey ume.

I should add that if you're over 30, you're going to feel like an oldster here. But it's worth it.

Glad I was a part of this get-together, Dash has some good eats!   I see a whole bunch of stuff that we didn't try in that pic of the menu...I think a return trip is needed haha.

EO:  I guess I am too old for that place since I am 31!  The site was really the McCully Bike original location.  Say, that should make me more than 31...LOL

She covered everything from neighborhood mom-and-pop places to ethnic eateries to fine dining restaurants on Honolulu's dining scene for Metromix Honolulu and The Honolulu Advertiser's TGIF. Before that, she ate her way through Vietnam, Scotland and Japan, where she lived, traveled or worked, after recovering from a journalism career that included stints as editor-in-chief of Hawaii Business magazine and reporter and editor at The Associated Press. Her goals are to always be hungry for more, and to always want to know what's around the next corner.
