Where to go for breakfast all day

Here are Nonstop’s top spots for getting breakfast any time the mood strikes you

Let’s face it, breakfast isn’t just for breakfast anymore. When I went to Chez Kenzo with my neighbors recently, we ordered the kim chee om-rice and sausages because we love breakfast for dinner. Which got me thinking: Where else can I get breakfast, any time of day? Not just one or two items, but a whole menu of breakfast items?

The Nonstop team came up with their favorite places for all-day breakfast, and I narrowed it down to 11. (I had to get that disclaimer in there before anyone says I “forgot” to name a place.) In the elimination process, I weeded out spots that are closed for dinner, because it wouldn’t be fair to the places that keep the griddle on, around the clock. Since Hawaii is a melting pot, I included a suggestion from Diane Seo for Korean breakfast, and from Mari Taketa for Vietnamese breakfast, in case you wanted something a little different.

Liliha Bakery (1 of 11)

Liliha Bakery

News flash: If you grew up in Hawaii and don't know by now, Liliha Bakery serves breakfast 24 hours a day. Pancakes, French toast, omelettes and loco moco round out the list, but you might want to go back to basics and just have eggs with Portuguese sausage and rice. Whatever you order, make sure to have the butter roll with "nuclear jelly." (I'm sure the flavor is strawberry, but no one calls it that.) —Photo by Mari Taketa

I'm one of those that rarely eats breakfast in the morning. If it's lunch time I like to go to Sweet E's Cafe. I like the Extreme Mess breakfast and the stuffed french toast is good too. If it's dinner time I like to go to Liliha Bakery. Mahi and eggs or Country Style Omelet: Portuguese sausage, with everything, rice and butter roll!

808marv ah! I didn't know that. Maybe because I usually go to the window. I heard the orange waffles are good at zippys  too, huh?

Holy Hardening Arteries, Batman! That pastrami eggs benedict is killer! And what a way to go!

Melissa808 268 pts moderator

LaurieOkawaMoore LOL!!! Actually the pastrami is not as fatty as others...I was super surprised at how lean it was. And it's BJ Penn's favorite! Won't eating that give me a body like BJ Penn?!

You suck. Now I want to eat breakfast for dinner but it is still breakfast time which wouldn't make sense to have breakfast food now because this post is about having breakfast food anytime OTHER than breakfast time. Hmmm....now I confused myself. It made sense when I started typing this comment.

Melissa808 268 pts moderator

ParkRat maybe you should have dinner for breakfast! Then all will be right with the world.

ParkRat 27 pts

Melissa808 Actually I plan to have lunch for breakfast because I'm going to head down to @Onotogo soon and have a plate. While I order my actual lunch plate and wait for that.

Melissa808 268 pts moderator

ParkRat  Onotogo as in, pre-lunch lunch or post-breakfast brunch?

ParkRat 27 pts

Melissa808 BREAKFAST! Just late one. Had the pork medallion bowl. Now waiting on my brown sugar chickie.

Whoa! I've only tried 5 of those places you've listed! I have some eating and trying to do! Breakfast food is one of my favorite meals of day! Alex and I LOVE Liliha and always went there at all hours of the day/night when we lived in the area.... maybe tomorrow??? Thanks for the great review as always Melissa!

Melissa808 268 pts moderator

LenaHanson Thanks! And....hmmm, can I crash your party? I want nuclear jelly!

Melissa808 268 pts moderator

No one eats Saimin for breakfast? Tell the cook to throw in a scrambled egg as the broth boils. I wouldn't mind having Pho for breakfast but only at certain restaurants.

Not to beat your disclaimer but some restaurants do serve Fried Rice all day. That's a favorite local breakfast item (with or without a breakfast meat and/or egg on top).

Of the 11 listed sites, 4 of them are open practically 24 x 7. BTW, my omelettes at Anna Millers NEVER looked as good as your pic.

ParkRat 27 pts

harrycovair I eat saimin for breakfast whenever I can! But I don't think people would consider it being a breakfast food. It's like eating pizza for breakfast.

Melissa808 268 pts moderator

ParkRat  harrycovair I don't know if I have ever met anyone who eats saimin for breakfast....although from the instagrams, looks like Parkrat eats it for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and midnight snack!

ParkRat 27 pts

Melissa808  harrycovair Saimin! The breakfast of.....well of ParkRat!

jlieu 45 pts

ParkRat  harrycovair NO PIZZA FOR BREAKFAST!!! LOL!!!! I have miso soup for breakfast - oh wait I only did that bc it spilled all in my bag this morning. :(

Melissa808 268 pts moderator

jlieu I would eat your pho for breakfast. Your exquisite pho with the delicate broth.  ParkRat  harrycovair

ParkRat 27 pts

jlieu Bummers. Does that mean that you might have misoed some calls on your phone?  harrycovair

Melissa808 268 pts moderator

harrycovair I do know other restaurants serve fried rice all day....these were my picks. If you have good suggestions, please leave them here! As for Anna Miller's: I don't know, maybe my camera is good? Not sure. I assure you I don't know anyone there, I just randomly ate there with LenaHanson one day.
