Vegas: Visiting the M Resort

We took a drive out to the M Resort and Spa in Henderson to check out the new property and see how their buffet measures up

We took a long drive out to the M Resort and Spa in Henderson, not just to try the buffet voted “the best in Vegas,” but to see how this newish resort compares to the new developments on the Strip.

It’s a gorgeous property, and really serene. The building is wide and thin, like the Honolulu Design Center, so you’ll find different things to do in different areas and not feel crowded. If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the Strip, but still enjoy Las Vegas, we think M is the perfect oasis in the desert.

Now, I try not to post much negativity in my blogs, but everyone’s been bugging me about my experience at the Studio B buffet. The buffet is supposed to be a destination in itself, and everyone on Twitter raves about it. Admittedly, we went on a weekday, which is not the day for the seafood buffet, but you also have to factor in the two-hour wait. At $22.99, the buffet is okay and worth the price, but not necessarily worth the wait. Here’s my summary of the experience:

A peek inside reveals a spacious, curving buffet line with lots of plate stations so you can join in at any time without being "that person" who cuts in line. This is their dessert station. —Photo courtesy of the M Resort

Anyway, sorry to keep the blog short, but the connectivity here has been outrageously slow and it’s been hard to upload my blog photos. (Hey, I gotta get going! This is a vacation, after all.) I’ll try to post more, but smaller blog entries to hopefully ease the time crunch.

You had a great experience out there and done a wonderful description of the place. I also had a recent experience visiting the Iberostar Mexico resort which is a perfect getaway for couples. It was really some different experience that I had in there.
Thanks for the post and enjoyed visiting it.

I travel to Las Vegas several times a year and have been there hundreds of times and been to many, many buffets (I have lost count!). Everyone has their opinion on buffets and everyone has different tastes (and I respect that) I can only speak for my experience at the Studio B Buffet at the M so here goes:
First of all buffets are not known for their desserts and I love desserts, and this buffet has the best desserts which includes gelato of all flavors (when have you ever seen gelato at a buffet??) and very good gelato! Plus they have tiramisu, meringues, crepes, tarts, hazelnut chocolate cake, I could go on and on. These desserts actually have TASTE, using better quality ingredients and it doesn't hurt to have actual pastry chefs from France making these creations.
I can't speak for every entree as you just can't eat it all, there's too much, but the prime rib was awesome! So tender and flavorful, i have been to buffets where you need a saw to cut into your meat (seriously)...the salads were great, mashed potatoes, ribs, meatballs, etc., etc., all were fresh and had taste.
As for the long line, well, that tells you that people are willing to wait to eat at the Studio B because it's just that good. Also, if there are a lot of people, that also means the food is fresh as there is high turnover. If you go during the holidays, of course, the lines will be longer, I just went when it opened at 4pm and the wait wasn't too bad.
By the way, I have also gone to the Red Rock Casino buffet and that one is good also, beautiful resort, no regrets going to that one, and I used to go to Aladdin (now Planet Hollywood) buffet and that was once Las Vegas' best buffet and it was good, but it degraded over time (which usually happens). Studio B Buffet at the M Casino, at this moment is the best buffet (for the price) in my opinion.

tantalus3 thanks, this is true, you can't eat it all! The prime rib was awesome, and as mentioned, was the only tender meat I tried. Everything had great taste, they were just tough. I'd go back to try the seafood buffet if people are still raving about it, though. The line for Studio B was as long as Bellagio's and that one had more "special" stuff. But again, I'd still chance the M since my experience with the food seems to be a fluke.

OH NO! Now you have me thinking about whether to drive out to M for the buffet or not. We'll probably go out there anyway. Too bad the Oxtail Soup wasn't that great. That would probably have been the first thing I would have gone for.

Some of my buds have stayed at M and they REALLY LIKED IT as it was their main conversation when they returned from Lost Wages.

Went to Red Rock Casino's Buffet one day for lunch. The line wasn't that long (which could be a bad indication) but the parking lot wasn't that full either. The food was decent especially after doing some short hikes in Red Rock Nature Preserve.

Enjoy the rest of your stay in LAS!

harrycovair Well, hopefully the oxtail will be tender when you go, because the taste was outstanding. The meat was tough. Your friends may have gone to the seafood buffet, because that's what everyone seems to rave about on twitter. Also this is kind of a peak time, thus the line. Hopefully it won't be so bad when you go!
