Every year, you’ve seen me blog about Island Sushi & Grill when I visit Vegas. It’s owned by Kaiser grad Terrance Fong and serves up some supa ono, brok-da-mout kine plate lunches, sushi, pupu, and dessert, but with one catch: It’s out in Henderson.
It’s one of my favorite places to eat at when I visit Vegas, and I have driven out of my way just to eat there. But I was excited to hear that Fong opened a new spot in the Plaza Hotel downtown recently. You know what this means, right? No more burning up valuable gambling time driving through the desert for a winnah lunch.

The Plaza Hotel in downtown Las Vegas finished its renovations in September, at which time they opened new restaurants to reflect their new look. Island Sushi & Hawaiian Grill was one of those restaurants.

I'm glad they moved to a closer location. Having a downtown location, "where the Hawaii people stay", is always good for us local tourists that visit our transplant friends and need to pick up some poke for the house party. I am surprised that your "Yoneyama" friends don't eat raw seafood... I always thought it was mandatory in Hawaii.
