Top things to do in Vegas

I go to Las Vegas every year, so this is an ever-changing list. Here are my top picks from this last adventure

The light show at the Fremont Street Experience

As you can tell from last year’s and this year’s galleries and blogs, I love Las Vegas. Every time I go, I mix in my favorite things to do and eat (gambling, the Fountains at the Bellagio, eating at Island Sushi & Grill) with new adventures (Fremont St. zipline, exploring new hotels, finding new restaurants).

At any given time, if you go to Las Vegas and are from Hawaii, chances are you will see people you know. In fact, there are so many people there that you know, you’ll probably miss some of them, as I did: I even got a note from a classmate recently who saw me passed out on a lobby chair at the California Hotel, but didn’t come over to say hi because she wasn’t sure if it was me or not (not because I was passed out, but because I haven’t seen her in 30 years).

Since there’s always something to do, see, eat or explore in Vegas, I look forward to every trip there knowing that will unveil a new layer of the city and new people to share the vast experiences with. Thanks to everyone who made this last vacation a good one (especially Boyd Vacations Hawaii for the air and hotel).

As the saying goes, “It’s not about the destination, it’s the journey.”

As I wrap up my blog series on Las Vegas, here are the top things I did in Sin City that I would recommend to you:

Elena's Restaurant (36 of 36)

Elena's Restaurant

The pork guisantes at Elena's is meaty and is in a tasty tomato gravy. You can't go to Elena's without having this dish.

Nanigurl LOL, I thought about it, believe me. stationcasinos is always a must-stop, but this time around we didn't have enough stomach space!

INOB! INOB! INOB! Saw a new INOB that wasn't on their online map. It's off the 95 NB (left side) about 4 miles from the 95/215 intersection. Going to check that one out next time I'm in LAS.

Surprised that I didn't see the obligatory Omiyage places squished in there. Trader Joe's, Beef Jerky Store, or Las Vegas Jerky's.

What I used to do to, during different seasons, was to drive out to the desert and takes pictures. Durig the winter after a light snowfall the desert looks so pristine. During March/April the desert comes alive with color.

This was a great series of blogs. Thanks Melissa.

harrycovair aaaah true on the omiyage, but that's a given! Plus Ed did that in his blogs. I do want to go to the desert one day, tho.....maybe that area where the aliens are rumored to land.

My definite must-do's when in Vegas are: 1) See the Bellagio Conservatory; 2) Eat at In-N-Out Burger; 3) Eat a Krispy Kreme glazed donut. 3) Look for new slot machines to play! The rest I usually play it by ear, but there's plenty of eating, shopping and gambling! Ditto Jen's comments, your blogs are *the* guide to Vegas! Love Las Vegas!

Melissa808 269 pts

CindySJ Thanks Cindy! I forgot about Krispy Kremes....I guess because we were eating everything else in sight, LOL. Not to mention, doughnuts don't go well with vodka.

I'm surprised no one's made a comment about my classmate finding me passed out at the California.

harrycovair 77 pts

CindySJ Oh yes, the seasonal change at the Bellagio Conservatory and their tribute to some artist or person. I think your #2 choice should be #1 lol.

Melissa808 CindySJ Everybody is too nice online to mention your passing out escapade.

Mmmm, a Vodka infused Bittersweet Chocolate over a French Crueller would go good right about now. <in SEA-TAC waiting for my 545am flight>

what a vicarious week i had with you and Ed in Vegas. i feel like i ate all that food, like my ckg account was rifled and my watch shattered on the bathroom tile, like i nearly peed my froggys on the zip line.

the only thing i missed was Ed's night in the VIP at the Paradise Club, getting 100 dollar lap dances and drinking Dom poured over the enhanced breasts of beautiful, corn fed Nebraska born strippers.. but i guess that will never make the blog. pity.

Melissa808 269 pts

turkfontaine LOL thanks Turk! And no, Ed's wild evening violates TOS on nonstophonolulu, I think. hahaha.
