The Willows’ anniversary party

Last night, The Willows celebrated their 11th anniversary with a party showcasing their best dishes.

Last night, while the rest of the Nonstop Honolulu crew was at the Hawaii Five-0 premiere, I took a mellower route and attended The Willows’ anniversary party. Although it’s actually their 11th anniversary, this is only the second time they held this kind of event.

The $5 cover granted us entry, plus the chance to win door prizes (which were actually pretty good — mostly baskets filled with wine, coffee, and biscotti). To get plates of food at the various stations, we had to buy scrips at $1 each and the individual items cost between two to five scrips. It was kind of like a mini Taste of Honolulu at the Willows!

Everything was good, but as you might guess, my favorite was the bacon-wrapped shrimp with a lobster reduction. Bacon just elevates everything to a whole new level! Here’s the rest of the food and some of the people I ran into. Actually, there were a lot of people there despite the competition with the Hawaii Five-0 event.

General manager Garrett Kamei greeted friends throughout the night.

It was a nice time and the food was so good! Everyone held their tummies and moaned when they left, as if it were a traditional farewell to The Willows. Happy Anniversary to The Willows! Mahalo to Toby Tamaye for letting me know about it!

Since when did Willows serve such decadent items? I only go there for the Hawaiian Food. I must have missed the menu or something. That Pork with Age Balsamic looked really ono!
