Out of the blue, I got an invitation to see the new 53 By the Sea, and was told it was at the old John Dominis site. I didn’t even realize there was something new there, as it seemed to have transformed overnight. The new place is so dramatically different that I had to take you for a virtual tour on my blog, but keep in mind that the original structure is actually still there. The former restaurant had the permits for being over the water grandfathered in, and if they tore it down, they would have to start over — but with current permits that don’t allow it to be so close to the edge.

Wow... big change. I remember eating there a long time ago at the Sunday Buffet. It was a bit pricey but a great atmosphere. The food in the pics looks outstanding.
