Party pics: Hale Aina Awards

More than 800 people attended Honolulu Magazine’s annual gala, the city’s most prestigious dining event of the year

By Melissa Chang on November 7, 2011

Honolulu Magazine held its 28th Annual Hale Aina Awards gala Sunday evening at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel, this time in the Coconut Grove to accommodate the biggest turnout to date. More than 800 people sampled award-winning fare from renowned Honolulu restaurants, enjoyed live entertainment, and tried exquisite libations.

The Hale Ainas are the islands’ first local restaurant awards. Prior to its creation, culinary awards in the Islands had been given by Mainland travel interests; the Hale Aina Awards were the first to recognize local tastes.
