New(ish) eats and party pics: HASR Bistro

We finally got to try HASR Bistro — which had its grand opening last night

Posted January 21, 2013 by Melissa Chang

Where has the time gone? HASR Bistro opened in October, but we haven’t had the chance to eat there until recently. With the holiday rush and all, it was always in the back of our minds to make a point to get there, but we’re glad we finally did. And, we don’t feel so bad for our timing, since owner Terry Kakazu has also been so busy, the grand opening party was last night.

Terry owns HASR Wine Co. next door, so if you BYOB from there, corkage is waived. She also still owns Terry’s Place, that unpretentious hole-in-the-wall karaoke bar in the Chinese Cultural Plaza with the amazing food and (of course) wine. Rodney Uyehara, formerly with the Beach House at the Moana, is the executive chef, so you know it’s going to be good. Note that although it’s a bistro and has an underlying French theme, the menu is cosmopolitan.

HASR Bistro took over the space formerly occupied by Grand Cafe, which works out well since the HASR Wine Co. is next door. If you buy a bottle from HASR to BYOB to HASR, and they'll waive the corkage fee.
