Maui eats: RB Black Angus Steakhouse

Pau hana on Maui? Eat and drink as the locals do at RB Steak House in Kahana

By Melissa Chang on February 7, 2012

Whenever I’m with Julie Yoneyama, we find ourselves looking for a good happy hour nearby. While on Maui, she showed me one of her favorite local spots, RB Black Angus Steakhouse.

It made me wish I had a place like this in my neighborhood, where the food is reasonable and tasty, and super chill so I can totally unwind. My most memorable dish was the onaga sashimi, not so much because it had exceptionally clean flavor, but because the bartender caught it and brought it in to work. You don’t see that kind of freshness much here on Oahu.

So here’s what we had:

It's not swanky, but it's not a dive, either. If you want a wide variety of food and drink options in a mellow atmosphere, RB is a favorite with the Maui locals. Chef Raul Bermudez brings decades of serious culinary training under his belt to this Kahana restaurant.

Melissa, have you try using the Panasonic GF1 20 mm 7 aperture? It great for dim lighted place and use no flash also when you are not allow to.

bettydalycity I haven't...yet. I'm quite a dummy when it comes to the hardware of a camera. :(

Everything looks incredible. The Onaga so fresh and beautiful. Crispy lobster right up my alley and all so reasonable. I don't know the West Side at all. Was so surprised on the Lower Honoapiliani Hwy. recently. Lots of hideaways. Our guests were staying at Papakea. They loved it there.

Delicate Blossom: Aha! This is where the "bull" is...alas, no picture of a steak.

Annoddah_Dave LOL, a steak would have been to heavy. Although the lil short rib was enough to satisfy the hankering!
