Magnolia to open at Kahala Mall

A new home accessories store will open at Kahala Mall this Saturday, and you get a sneak peek with me

I was lucky enough to get a preview of Magnolia, a new store in Kahala Mall, the other night. The store will officially open this Saturday, October 9, but you can get a sneak peek at some of the stuff they’ll be selling here on my blog.

I thought it was interesting that Magnolia owner Maggie Parks chose to make it such a wide range of products, from large European antique furniture pieces to fine glassware to jewelry and scarves; plus hard-to-find herbs, spices, and salts; and olive oil products all in the mix. It seems kind of like a mishmash of things, but when you see the store, it all makes sense. By the way, it’s Parks’ first time in the retail arena: she’s a private practice attorney, most recently at Case Lombardi & Pettit.

The olive oil section offers about 20 different varieties of oil, most from Spain and Italy.  Oils will be available for tasting, as well as information on how to select the proper oil for specific needs. Balsamic glazes, fruit and wine vinegars and books on olive oil make the section complete. In a nearby section, Parks has olive oil products, such as soaps and moisturizers. If you go, here’s some of the stuff you’ll see:

They have some great furniture too. I would have bought one of the tables if it wasn't sold already. :o(

Wine Gurl:
Looking at the pix w/o the captions, one would think that this is a Bed, Bath and Beyond store. Some of the packaging looks like cosmetics and shampoos. Imagine grabbing a bottle of infused olive oil and washing your hair, then topping it off with balsamic vinegar for a "slick doo"??? Salad anyone??!!!

Melissa, glad Hawai'i is getting this. My two fave deli's here in Cleveland let you taste olive oils and balsamics (as well as their various meats and cheeses). Some of balsamics are so fine that I would do shots. They have put honey on a couple different cheeses. Hmmm, one of the places is Greek and the other Italian. Hmm, given Marco Polo and pasta from China and all that am wondering if you are part Greek or Italian.

Maxcat haha I think I am part something......on my mom's side of the family, when we get older, our eyes turn hazel. In fact, I can already see a hazel-ish ring around the brown of my eyes forming. But, I digress! I'm happy that I don't have to lug the glass bottles & jars of this stuff home from the mainland anymore!

Melissa808 Maxcat you might be part something..but you work too hard to be part Italian. hell, they're so laid back they don't even have a government. Magnolia looks like the kind of store i have spent many hours in-in a trance, a stupor, with my wife, going; uh huh, uh huh as countless jars, boxes, tins, and blank journals appear and disappear from under my nose. i think if i were catholic it would be what purgatory must be like.

I had the same thought about it being so many things, Melissa, but as you say, it all makes sense together. I have a thing about color and love what she selected and just the overall "feel."
What I'm really excited about is all the choices we have now in Honolulu -- the mix is getting better and bigger. Thanks much for coming!

@M harrycovair huh??? There's an electronics store called Magnolia??? hahahahaha

Melissa808 @M It's a mainland based company: magnoliaav.com. It's like the TV section in Fry's, Best Buy, etc. Just kill my short lived joy and excitement of another electronics store opening up! Heh...

harrycovair @M oh my gosh! I had no idea.

Magnolia, my first thought was the electronics store that specialized in Audio/Visual equipment, not home accessories. Boy did I assume wrong.

Awww-rite, another place to buy (infused) Olive Oil and Balsamic Vinegar. Will definitely check Magnolia out after her Grand Opening.
