Hawaii: In Real Life extra ~ Lani Misalucha

Lani Misalucha launched her new show in the Waikiki Beachcomber last night. We talked to her about her performance style, Vegas, and of course, eating at Zippy’s

By Melissa Chang on December 21, 2011

Last night was the opening night of Lani Misalucha’s new solo endeavor, produced by Roy Tokujo and Roberts Hawaii. You may know Misalucha from her TV show, “The Other Side of Vegas,” and from her performing in Las Vegas — most notably with the Society of Seven.

Her new show is in the Holiday Inn Waikiki Beachcomber Resort, and it’s a high-energy, fast-paced, interactive performance. She sings classical, rock, and pop, adding in comedy, impersonations, and a little bit of dancing. Most people watching Misalucha for the first time (like me) had no idea what to expect, and were blown away at her range of talent.

We caught up with Misalucha (@LaniInWaikiki) after the show to talk to her and see what she’s all about. She loves talking about performing, but she really loves talking about what she likes to eat at Zippy’s and Leonard’s Bakery. Really? Did you really eat all that? See it all in this video:

We also got some audience reaction after the show, which you can see at HawaiiIRL.com along with information on showtimes and tickets. It may sound like an infomercial, but it’s actually unprompted and spontaneous; we were all pretty much blown away.

Nonstop’s Ed Morita also got some nice photos of the show:

Delicate Blossom: Say, that was a pretty good subtle plug of Champion bakery during the malasada segment. I guess you know the owner once worked at Leonard's. That pix of Lani with the Grand Canyon dress looked like she was ready to "bust out"! Yup, Chef Ed...I wasn't quite sure about the pho place..I wonder if it is near a "gentlemen club"?

Amazing singer! I can see why people keep saying that if you close your eyes you would think you were at a Celine Dion concert. What I didn't expect was that if you open your eyes at the right time you'll also think the same.

ParkRat I don't think a lot of women do impersonations, so that's impressive.

Melissa808ParkRat I think its amazing how she can change her look in so many ways! Tins and Diana Ross were my favs!
