Surf Line Hawaii Ocean-Lifestyle Store held its grand opening at 411 Puuhale Road yesterday, featuring Zodiac boats, surfing canoes and paddles, limited edition surfboards, stand up surfboards, performance paddle boards, racing kayaks, OC1 canoes, giant rubber bands that sling you across the water and custom paipo boards. In addition to its own Surf Line Hawaii, Original Jams and Jams World clothing, the store will carry other unique Hawaii apparel and accessories.

Due to the Rochlen family history in Hawaii’s ocean lifestyle community, renowned designers, craftsmen, authors and artists of Hawaii’s water sports world turned out for this event.

Memorabilia has been incorporated into the store’s design to make it almost like a surf museum with a 108-square-foot living plant wall, vintage surf boards, antique travel posters, and a pictorial history of Surf Line Hawaii in the 1960s. The dramatic centerpiece is a two-story, 11-motorcycle chandelier.

Other products, displayed throughout the store include:

  • A three man surfing and sailing Kailuakanu made by third generation canoe-maker Jay Dowsett
  • Stand-up surfboards and apparel by Todd Bradley and the C4 Waterman team
  • Victory paddles & ‘iakos by Eastsider Darren Almeida
  • Exclusive optics from Salt sunglasses
  • Kalani Irvine, and John and Jim Foti’s Paddle Sports International collection plus their new keiki size one man “Gecko” canoe, a first for the sport
  • Kai Bartlett’s custom color OC1 XM model for the shop
  • One of a kind Black Timor bamboo stand up paddles made locally by Noah Auna and Kurt Tolzman of Ka’ohe Paddles
  • Tiger Taylor designed and built the first three-man carbon fiber racing canoe and debuted his “Tiger Shark” at the event
  • Sherry Brewer’s personal 9’9” Big Wave Gun shaped by Dick Brewer
  • Hang Ten apparel founder Duke Boyd is featuring part of his original collection of art, cards and shirts along with his Legends of Surfing book
