Dinner at Azul

We treated ourselves to the tasting menu at Azul at the Ihilani last night. Check out what we ate!

It was my last night at the Ihilani, so I decided to treat myself to dinner at Azul, the hotel’s signature restaurant. They recently put together a prix fixe tasting menu for just $45 ($20 extra for wine pairing), so we wanted to try it. The tasting menu consists of one starter, an intermezzo, an entree and dessert.

Disclaimer: The public relations company for the JW Marriott Ihilani Resort & Spa did let the chef know that a bunch of twitterati were coming, so the appetizer platter is not part of the normal menu.

To wrap up my last night at the JW Marriott Ihilani Resort & Spa, we decided to have dinner at Azul.

From left, Alex Dahlman, Lena Hanson, Jennifer Lieu, Gypsy Raven, and me.

Overall, we had a great time — it’s nice to have an upscale meal in a very chill environment. We never felt rushed or intimidated; it was relaxing to be able to enjoy a good meal and good company, and the staff did their best to make us feel comfortable.

My recommendation? Go with a big appetite, as their food is very filling. We had to take boxes to go! I don’t know how the tourists do it.

MMMMmmm, Paella. What were the seafood ingredients? Shrimp, Mussels, and Scallops are seen in the shot. Any idea what kind of Sausage the chef used?

So that's how the other half lives!
