Breakfast of champions: The Cracked Egg in Vegas

We ate at The Cracked Egg, a local Las Vegas breakfast restaurant — and loved every bite. We think you will, too

Thanks to late nights on the blackjack table and hectic days, my blog is now about a day behind. Such is a vacation in Las Vegas!

Thanks to a reader suggestion, Ed, Amber and I sought out The Cracked Egg, a (Las Vegas) local chain that serves up breakfast and lunch. As the name suggests, they’re known for their egg dishes, but we found that anything they serve for breakfast is pretty awesome. As it turns out, they try to use everything fresh: Their vegetables are chopped up by hand, and since they acquire their produce fresh daily, the fridge is nearly empty. That freshness is pretty evident in the taste of these homestyle dishes. Here’s what we ate:

We were bowled over by the nice service and wonderful food at The Cracked Egg. If you find yourself in Vegas, they have four locations; we found one on our way to Henderson.

The service was also attentive without being overly so. I mention this because we’ve had a wide range of service here in Las Vegas, and this was one place that made us feel comfortable, happy, and relaxed — but with enough attention that we knew we didn’t have to worry about needing to flag anyone down for anything except to ask nosy questions. ;)

Speaking of good service, I should mention that when we got back to the hotel, Julie and I had a nice time at the Triple 7 Brew Pub in the Main Street Station. The bartenders were friendly and helpful (a breed that has been surprisingly hard to find on this trip, even on the Strip) and made yummy drinks (also surprisingly rare). If we weren’t driving around so much, we would probably name Triple 7 our bar of choice, since the Cosmopolitans were just $4-4.50 and we could call our vodka, even at that price. Cosmos have been running us about $10-14 at other places, even downtown.

Disclaimer: Air & hotel were provided by Boyd Vacations Hawaii for an assignment for InsideOut Hawaii.

I still need to try this place. I was hungry for breakfast and I was in Henderson! Gosh Darn it! I ended up at Einstein's Bagel on Eastern. Thanks for sharing

ElenasFilipino How is Einstein's Bagel? Worth a stop?

Melissa808 ElenasFilipino There's Einstein Bagels all over the place. Sometimes I grab a couple for the wait at the airport from the 4626 S Maryland Pkwy franchise. Einstein's has more than bagels: Yogurt, Sandwiches, Juices, etc. Ask for the Schmear if you aren't planning on taking it on the plane.

BTW there's a really cool place to eat just across the street from this Einstein's. It's called In N Out Burger. Unfortunately there's a street divider running down Maryland Parkway so you'll need to find the nearest cross street to make a U turn.

"We dug in and started moaning"--reminded me of that infamous scene in When Harry Met Sally. "I'll have what they're having" LOL. Everything looks ono, especially that peanut butter french toast. Must make a note of this place.

I can feel my arteries crying just looking at those pics. Next time we're looking for breakfast places I'm sure to put The Cracked Egg on my list. Since most of the time we usually skip out of using our "Boyd" scripts for lunch, how about some lunch places?

Melissa808 268 pts

MoOgooGuypAN Actually, we were eating this breakfast for lunch! Anyway, we do have a schedule that we're on, so stay tuned....lunch place tomorrow.

MoOgooGuypAN If you play enough on the floor you wouldn't need to use the Boyd script book. Yeah, I know what you mean. A few times I didn't even use the script book except for the late night specials: Oxtail Soup or the NY Steak.

Melissa808 MoOgooGuypAN Another visit to INOB I hope! lol.

There's a Mexican Restaurant that I especially like, Lindo Michoacan (2655 E. Desert Inn Road). Since their disasterous fire a few years ago they've expanded and added more restaurants. Love their Fajita, Seafood Fajita, and Chile Colorado. Their Chile Verde is quite good too. Next time I'm going to try their Carnitas a la Coca Cola.

i bet a lot of the bartenders are less than ingratiating due to the economy's collapse. you gotta wonder how many of them are underwater on their houses or facing foreclosure. that would take the red off someones candy cane.

Melissa808 268 pts

turkfontaine We found a lot of bartenders to be indifferent. Still, though, if you're having a hard time, wouldn't you be nicer to get bigger tips? This waitress says yes!
