Aloha Sapporo! Sightseeing

We checked out some of Sapporo’s sightseeing highlights

Okay, so Sapporo is not all about eating and drinking, although we’d like to think it is. There’s culture and sightseeing, as well. We had a whirlwind tour of Sapporo’s highlights with some Japanese bloggers, who took us to a shrine (of course), the Olympic Winter Sports Museum, and to lunch. If you visit Sapporo, here are some things you may want to do and see:

They performed a quick, interactive ceremony for us. At the end, they presented us with pine branches, which we had to place on the altar, bow two times, and clap twice.

The Olympic Winter Sports Museum is home to Sapporo’s famous ski jump. If you go, make sure you take the ski lift up so you can get this view.

This blog is just highlighting all that we did and saw. If you want to see all the photos, click here to see the entire album!

Up next: Visiting the spa town of Noboribetsu!

Delicate Blossom:  thanks for the video, I knew the ski jump slope was steep but man, it really is!  I guess when you see it on TV these guys make it look so easy, plus with the white snow all over you kind of lose the perspective of how steep the slope is.

ParkRat  Annoddah_Dave I guess they are not as litigious as Americans.

Melissa808  Annoddah_Dave Yeah. Actually my friend that lives there was telling me that in Japan if you fall in a hole in the sidewalk and get hurt you don't sue. You say it was your fault for not paying attention. Guess the same thing would apply if you get too close to the edge of a ski jump and fall down.

I went to Hokkaido in the 90's...great memories of the spa in Noboribetsu and hiking in the snow around Jigokudani. Great contrasts of volcanic steam vents and sulphur pits, ice and snow and relaxing in the spa.

robocon I'd return here! The spas are super duper!

the cross country skiing workout reminds me of something that you could play on a Nintendo Wii or Sony Playstation Move or XBox 360 Kinect

The old school facility picture reminds me of stuff that you could see in those little houses at Waipahu's historical "Plantation Village." Cool but nostalgic stuff there. Good (no great reporting) work !

The trees and plants looked beautiful (red, yellow colors) !!! :) It kinda reminds me of a Cherry Blossom tree.
