The Standard, formerly Oceans 808 at Restaurant Row, held its packed official grand opening Friday night with a full menu of food and custom cocktails and DJs spinning house and club music inside and out. The much buzzed-about new nightclub has undergone an extensive remodel and several name changes before its launch, but the grand opening, with giant pillars and panels throughout the club displaying the work of legendary graffiti artist Slick of Dissizit and a fantasy fashion show by Caleb Shinobi gave all who came a preview of the modern, sophisticated, art and music-centric vibe of the new spot.

From Studebakers, to Oceans 808 and now the Standard, what a transformation this place has had in Restaurant Row. This should bring back money, to this small populated ocean view shopping center, lost from the $1 movie theater and restaurants like Jose's Cantina, that closed down.
