The annual tradition of KCCN’s giant Island music birthday bash came to a close this year, but it went out with a bang, with thousands of people crowding Waikiki Shell to watch a huge lineup of their favorite Island music artists, including Fiji, J Boog, Kapena, Natural Vibes, Rebel Souljahz and more.

So many memories of Birthday Bash. I've been to many BB's with so many different people and they're all great memories. Lining up early and playing cards so we can get the best lawn seats, BBQing and just listening from outside in the park when we didn't want to pay for tix, dates, GFs, buddies, etc. Dancing the jockey move to Hoaikane, Reggae Train with Kapena....good times. So sorry to see the Bash go!
This makes me kinda sad... In the 22 years they did it, I never once went to a Birthday Bash, and now I won't get the opportunity... Does anyone know if this being the last Bash has anything to do with Cox Radio selling KCCN and all those other Hawai'i stations? Has there been anything in the news about what the future holds for KCCN, KINE, and all the others? KINE is one of my go-to stations when I come home, and I listen to them online all the time. I would be really sad if those stations change because of Cox Radio's restructuring...
