Party pics: RAWards 2012

Honolulu’s RAW artists of the year in seven categories of art, music, performing art, dance and fashion were decided at the inaugural RAWards Honolulu at Aloha Beer

The inaugural RAWards in Honolulu, sponsored in part by Nonstop Honolulu and thrown by the local branch of the RAW:natural born artists movement, went off in a big way at Aloha Beer on Saturday night. Part of a national competition, with 54 shows across the nation on the same night, the event consisted of indie artists from the local community competing in seven category types: Visual Art, Fashion, Accessories, Music, Photography, Performing Art and Hair & Makeup to win the right to represent Honolulu in the RAWards national finals. The top 3-5 nominees, in each craft were voted on by attendees and a panel of three local judges.

Visual Artist of the Year: Melissa Rivera
Fashion Designer of the Year: Wonderhoodz
Accessories Designer of the Year: Anchor My Love
Hair & Makeup Stylist of the Year: Face Art Beauty
Musician of the Year: Da Push-O-Verse
Photographer of the Year: Kari Geha Photography
Performing Artist of the Year: Blank Canvas dance crew

Winners will travel to Los Angeles to take part in the national finals, and get some valuable career-boosting prizes, like placement in boutiques and galleries, products and services that will boost their exposure and consultations with the judges.
