We were there for the opening day of Kawaii Kon, the huge annual anime and cosplay festival at Hawaii Convention Center. Kawaii Kon runs all weekend, with fashion shows, concerts, panels, workshops, gaming tournaments and special guests, including iconic voice actor playwright and guitarist Toshio Furukawa (“Gundam,” “Sailor Moon,” “Fist of the North Star,” “Dragon Ball Z,” “Bleach,” “Samurai Champloo” and more), fashion designer MINT, singer/songwriter Iruma Rioka, character designer and artist Noizi Ito and voice actor and musician Johnny Yong Bosch all making appearances.
