Local musicians paid tribute to Janis Joplin, the Queen of Rock & Roll, with a concert at The Republik on her birthday Saturday. Yoza and Kings of Spade opened, followed by a set of nothing but Janis songs, with guest singers Yoza, Erin Smith of The Throwdowns, Big Mox of the Prolific Unknowns, Makke Farley of Sex Puppets, Devon Williams, and Maria “Songbird” Remos belting out beloved soulful classics like “Bobby McGee,” “Piece of My Heart,” “Ball and Chain” and “Summertime.” MOTHxp from Maui ended the night.
