Bartenders from all over Honolulu shook it up at the first preliminary round of the Bacardi Oakheart Iron Bartender Competition at The Republik on Tuesday evening. Contestants were judged first on a best original cocktail, then had to pass a speed and accuracy test, and finally a show of “personality.”
Congratulations to Ryan “Mo” Sanford of The Republik and Alicia Yamachika of Uncle Bo’s and Nobu for being the first two finalists of the competition.
The shake-up continues Tuesday, March 19 and Tuesday, March 26 at 7 p.m. at The Republik. All the finalists will square off on Tuesday, April 2 for the final round, and the winner of the Iron Bartender 2013 title will walk away with a grand prize of $5,000 in cash and prizes.
