New nightlife: The Standard

The new nightclub, formerly Oceans 808, brings a clean aesthetic, modern electro groove and versatile late-night party spot to Restaurant Row

The Standard

Opening in the space formerly occupied by Oceans, The Standard bears a name that brings vague assurances of quality and a sleek, luxurious aesthetic (yes, I'm also reminded of the chic mainland hotel chain called The Standard).

But what most people want to know is whether it'll be any different from Oceans, which was sold in January 2011, and suffered from image problems, too many inconsistent promoters and too few crowded nights.

After a close look, it's evident some things have stayed the same, yet it's definitely not the same club.
