The Goodwill Goes GLAM! sale takes place at Blaisdell Exhibition Hall from August 23-26. Presented by the Bank of Hawaii, the event promotes Goodwill Industries of Hawaii’s nonprofit mission to “help people with employment barriers to reach their full potential and become self-sufficient” and provide thrifty fashion enthusiasts with an opportunity to explore 20,000 square feet of retail space and more than 50,000 items for great finds at affordable prices. The Goodwill Goes GLAM! Sale kicked kicked off Thursday night with a special VIP pre-sale evening that included “The Elements of Goodwill” fashion show and early access to the shopping experience.
“The Elements of Goodwill” fashion show featured both Goodwill donations that were re-purposed by University of Hawaii 2012 student designers in a segment called “Goodwill Goes Green” and elemental-themed looks put together from Goodwill donations by a group of Hawaii’s talented stylists, demonstrating the versatility of recycled fashion. The creatively styled looks for the elemental segments of the show were inspired by earth, wind, water and fire, and several of the items used in the looks were returned to the retail racks after the show to give guests the opportunity to purchase them.
The event continues through the weekend, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, with tickets available at the door. For more information please visit Goodwill Hawaii.
