Michelle Obama visits Ma’o Organic Farms

Hawaii regional chefs are improvising by having ingredients that are made locally from the (organic) farmers from all islands, like your Maui onions, Honoka'a tomatoes, Kona coffee from Waimea, Kauai taro, or Molokai sweet bread.

I forgot about the fishing trade, getting plants like macadamia nuts, breadfruit (ulu), noni, coconuts; growing vegetables or having an awa/kava-producing farm !!!

SustAINAble living - that is definitely will play a part in Hawaii's future. What if the Matson company cancelled ALL shipments to Hawaii, we islanders will starve.. Going back to the old (not plantation) days - no doubt about it. Except will will have more variety of crops than just sugar cane and pineapple, two industries that had disappeared. Now, we have to have pineapple shipped from Latin America or Asia. Big Island cattle, from Parker Ranch, should be shipped locally to the interislands, instead of being first shipped to the U.S. mainland, processed with pesticide (or pasteurization) and then, shipped back to Hawaii with a higher price tag for the regular consumers (which is everybody). Wow ? Waianae !? I don't think there will be any gridlock traffic going towards that area, just at the Disneyland-like resort Aulani or Ko Olina (near Makakilo or Kapolei).
