Cinema fans gathered at Washington Place Tuesday night for the Hawaii International Film Festival awards ceremony

Cinema fans gathered at Washington Place Tuesday night for the Hawaii International Film Festival awards ceremony. Voting for the audience choice awards for best narrative, documentary and short film will continue through the rest of the festival. Results will be announced Oct. 24.

2011 Winners

NetPAC Award presented by the Network for Promoting Asian Cinema — “Hanaan” directed by Ruslan Pak

Mahalo Nui Loa Award for promoting film in Hawaii presented by Halekulani — “Hawaii Five-0″

Vision Film Award presented by City & County of Honolulu — Alexander Payne, director of “The Decendants”

Golden Orchid Award for Best Narrative presented by Halekulani — “Patang” directed by Prashant Bhargava

Golden Orchid Award for Best Documentary presented by Halekulani — “Splinters” directed by Adam Pesce
