Behind the Wall: John Prime

Friends, students and fans of creative powerhouse John "Prime" Hina's work with volunteer-led graffiti artist collective 808 Urban ("Water Writes" mural at Honolulu Community College, the Warriors mural by BJ Penn's UFC gym and countless other murals around Hawaii) gather in Kakaako to throw a celebration for one of the coolest, most hardworking men in the local urban art scene, with live music, food, a silent auction, a roast and painting, of course. Brought to you by Na Mea Gallery, II Gallery, The Green House, R/D,Street Grindz, Loft in Space, Pow Wow Hawaii, the Estria Foundation and 808 Urban.

Auahi Street between Keawe & Coral; Thursday, Sept. 20 from 6-10 p.m.; free; all ages
