First Thursdays Slam Poetry with Kit Yan (1 of 14)

Kit Yan of HBO's "Asians Aloud" is the special guest at this month's HawaiiSlam poetry event at Fresh Cafe. A member of the LGBT community, Kit weaves words into love poems, coming-out stories and comedic tale. Don't miss this talented poet, as well as live painting by the resident artists and music by DJ Toki.

Fresh Cafe; Thursday, Jan. 5, doors & poet sign-in at 7:30 p.m., show at 8:30 p.m.; $3 before 8:30 p.m., $5 after; all ages
