Benghazi Hotel Photo Exhibition @ CoXist Studio (1 of 9)
A unique, cross-cultural exhibition is up on the walls in CoXist, with black and white photographs depicting something many are probably unaware of — the aftermath of the Libyan civil war. But it's not just about a far-off war in a far-off country, it's about all wars, and how they affect the lives of the people involved.
Young photographer Marwan Bassiouni's photos are not meant to be journalistic or commercial; instead, they're humanistic, bringing the mundane into focus through his images of soldiers in repose. Bassiouni — a freelance photographer who regularly travels between Egypt and Switzerland — recently was featured among 20 young upcoming international photographers at the Prix Bayeux Awards for War Correspondents. His first meet-and-greet was last Thursday, with one more gallery showing/meet-and-greet coming up this week.
