The students, who showed off their skills at a fundraiser attended by some of the college’s top donors, are preparing for the American Culinary Federation Western regional competition, which will be held in Idaho next month,
To incorporate an added challenge, the students teamed with cooks from the Pacific Club and given a course to prepare and serve.
The evening also featured silent and live auctions, along with an impromptu book signing by Chef Alan Wong with all proceeds going to help offset the travel expenses of the team’s trip to the ACF Western regional and hopefully the National Championships held in Las Vegas in July. Teams from KCC have had much success in the past with four gold medals, one silver and winning the National Championship in 2009.
